Smoothies

Mark and I never got a blender as a wedding present.

The other day, I had a hankering to make smoothies, pureed soups and all things blended,
so we decided to invest in a blender.

And now I'm a smoothie addict.

I love my smoothies, and I make them for us almost every day.

I put in fresh berries (strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries),
milk,
vanilla yogurt,
fresh squeezed orange juice,
a banana,
spinach (you don't even know it's in there, and it's so good for you!),
and a variety of frozen fruits: strawberries, peaches and mangoes.
Sometimes I add in a squeeze of honey to sweeten it up a little,
but most of the time it's delicious as is.

Then the blender goes to work, and I enjoy a fruity drink that's packed with lots of fruit!

Yum!

Homemade Bread

I've recently had the desire to make homemade bread to eat
instead of buying it at the store. When I was a child my dad would make bread and
I don't ever remember eating store-bought bread.
The other day I was looking at the ingredient list on the package of bread that we had from the store, and holy cow, is it long!

I decided that I would become more domestic and
make some healthy whole wheat bread.
I e-mailed my dad for his recipe, which naturally comes from my grandma.
There's only 7 ingredients in his recipe. 7!

Let me tell you: nothing is better than homemade bread,
fresh and hot from the oven.

Nothing.

Tuesday's Faves.

Just for fun, I've decided to share with you some my current faves that I
just can't get enough of:

It's March Madness time! I love NCAA Basketball, but it's definitely been a real treat to watch BYU's journey to the Sweet Sixteen for the first time in 30 years, and I'm so pumped for the Cougars to beat the Gators on Thursday night!

My Freitag wallet. Mine doesn't look exactly like this, but Freitag makes most of their products out of recycled truck tarpaulins, so they're each unique, super sturdy and water resistant, and the card separators in the wallet are made from recycled airbags. I bought my wallet almost 4 years ago in Italy and it still smells like a truck tarpaulin. And, if you order a messenger bag online, you can choose where on the tarpaulin they cut it out, so it'll be even more personalized!

I'm loving red nailpolish right now. It's super classy.

I may or may not have blogged about my Built Neoprene lunch box, but I'm still in love. It fits everything I could ever want to eat for lunch in it, and it's super comfy to carry around. And it's washable, just in case you pack some clementines for a trip to Arizona and happen to forget about them in the trunk of your car. Which may or may not have happened to me.

I'm loving these classy cuffs right now from J Crew. One in every color, please.

I started reading this book the other day, and it's a really interesting look into the food industry and the eating habits of our days. This book, among other things, has changed the way that I've been eating lately, and although I may cave and eat the occasional piece of chocolate, I've been feeling so much better, and I crave strawberries and blueberries all the time.

I suppose I have to give a shout out to BYU Broadcasting, since Mark will be working there over the summer! (and when I say "work" I mean "intern" which means he'll be getting paid in experience) He'll get to do a variety of tasks, and I'm glad that he'll be getting experience that will make him more marketable. Yay.

Stuck.

Mark and I are playing the lamest of all games right now.

The Waiting Game.

And it's so lame.

Mark has to get an internship for the summer so that he can "officially" graduate in August. He's been applying to places like a mad person, and so far he's only gotten an offer from one studio, here in Utah. And while it's good that it's an offer, it's definitely not his first choice (it's not Capitol Records). Speaking of Capitol Records, he keeps calling and calling to schedule and interview, and they keep telling him to call back later since they don't interview until April. Also lame.

So for now, we're stuck. We're waiting until we hear back from other places until we make a decision, but I hate the waiting game. And it makes it worse knowing that (due to a co-worker's unfortunate situation) I could have a full-time job at the MTC at the end of April, but I kind of need to figure things out ASAP so that I can hopefully get the job. But, since we're playing the waiting game, I can't really do anything. And I hate it. While I would love to have the opportunity to have a full-time job and start earning money as soon as I graduate, I also want Mark to get the best internship he can so that he can find an awesome job when he graduates. Lame, huh?

Hopefully things will figure themselves out soon. Really soon.

Until then, we're loving life as best we can. And we finally got some living room furniture (thanks Ikea!) and turned our living room into an actual cozy space instead of a lame college dorm room space. We love it.

Oh! And we decided what do with our tax return. Not go on a trip. Ha. We got the final bills back from my gall bladder surgery and it looks like we have to pay for some of that. And Mark still has to go to LA to interview at Capitol Records, so no frivolous spending for us. I think it's better that way.

And I just saw a commercial for a Honey Bunches of Oats Raisin Blend that has 3 different types of raisins. Make me vomit. I hate raisins.
