Every Christmas in Italy these lovlies start to appear in every store:
This is Pandoro. It's like a fluffy pillowy cake and it comes in a huge plastic bag with a packet of powdered sugar. To prepare the Pandoro, you open the sugar packet, dump it in the bag and shake the bag with the Pandoro and the sugar until the Pandoro has a lovely coating of sugar...almost like snow. Now it's ready to eat! Fresh Pandoro is delicious, but day-old Pandoro is probably my favorite.
Mark and I were at Tony Caputo's Market in downtown Salt Lake on Saturday when we ran into our old friend, Pandoro. We both ate Pandoro a lot while in Italy, and we loved seeing the real thing here in Utah. Unfortunately they wanted $21 from us in exchange for one Pandoro, and we decided that we should just save our money because for that price we could buy 5 of them when we finally make it back there. We were sad to walk away from it, but we will meet again Pandoro. I promise.
